VTG 1970s Patagonia Chouinard Supergaiters Great Pacific Iron Works SZ 28 RARE

Up for sale is an incredibly rare, museum-grade pair of vintage 1970s Chouinard Supergaiters. These iconic gaiters were designed by legendary outdoor innovator Peter Carman and manufactured right here in the USA by Yvon Chouinard's pre-Patagonia company, The Great Pacific Iron Works out of Ventura, California.   * Total Outer Rand Length: Approx. 13 inches (measured along the bottom yellow rand from the absolute back edge of the heel to the front tip of the toe).   * Total Vertical Height: Approx. 21 inches (measured from the bottom edge straight up to the very top of the blue nylon cuff).   * Sizing Note: The inner tag reads Size 28. In vintage mountaineering gear, this indicates that the gaiters are built to fit over a climber's heavy winter mountaineering boot that has an exterior sole length of roughly 28 centimeters (typically corresponding to a modern Men's US shoe size 9-10). The gaiter's rigid bottom base measures 13 inches so it can fit entirely around the outside bulk of the boot sole.  Excellent condition with a very sleek look overall. There are just a few minimal spots of light dirt from previous light use, but no major stains, damage, or heavy wear.
