Vintage Handwoven Coiled Basket – Folk Art Tray with Seed Pod Accents 11 Inch

Unusual handwoven shallow basket or decorative tray measuring approximately 11 inches across and 2.5 inches deep.  The piece features tightly coiled brown fibers woven with contrasting golden-yellow stitching and an elaborate sculptural outer border. Circular carved Handwoven coiled fiber basket with walnut/nut-shell slice accents, likely artisan/folk craft, origin unknown. Elements are incorporated throughout the perimeter and center, giving the basket a wonderful folk-art or artisan-made appearance.  The underside of the center wood element is hand-marked “96.” The meaning of this marking is unknown, so no specific date or maker is being attributed.  A distinctive piece for wall display, tabletop décor, natural or organic interiors, basket collections, bohemian décor or folk-art collections.
