Vintage Doña Rosa Oaxaca Barro Negro Black Clay Mask Signed Mexican Pottery
N/A
Barro Negro (black clay) pottery handcrafted at the famous Alfarería Doña Rosa workshop in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. Doña Rosa Real Mateo de Nieto famously invented the burnishing technique that gives this specific region's black clay its signature metallic, mirror-like sheen. Authentic, hand-burnished Doña Rosa wall masks are highly collectible Mexican folk art pieces. Doña Rosa passed away in 1980, but her family continues to operate the legendary workshop, signing pieces in her honor. Please see pictures for description, condition, and measurements
