They're made in France from solid cast iron to retain heat for even cooking and browning and finished with a majolique enameled finish in colors that coordinate with Staub's cookware collections.  Solid cast iron transfers and retains heat evenly. Multicoat majolique exterior enamel. Topped with brass or nickel knob. Matte-black enamel interior is resistant to rust, chipping and cracking and does not require additional seasoning. Traces of quartz on enamel interior provide additional heat resistance and create a textured surface for improved browning. Dozens of precisely placed bumps on the lid's interior funnel evaporated juices directly back down on top of food for moist, tender results. Oven safe to 500°F. Smooth enamel base works on all stovetops, including induction.
