Colorful handmade Mexican folk art skeleton nicho/shrine by Cielito Lindo Estudio of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico.  This whimsical wall-hanging piece features a brightly hand-painted yellow floral exterior with hinged double doors. Opening the doors reveals a three-dimensional skeleton figure standing in front of red doors and raising a black hat.  The Spanish phrase across the bottom reads:  “Un esqueleto en cada ropero”  Literally, “A skeleton in every closet,” a playful variation on the familiar expression about everyone having something hidden in their past.  The piece has wonderful traditional Mexican folk-art character, with hand-painted flowers, dimensional decorative elements and a small green skull accent at the top.  Original maker label remains on the back and reads:  Cielito Lindo Estudio San Miguel de Allende, Gto. Hecho a mano en Mexico  Built-in metal hanger on reverse for wall display.
