Description
This is a wooden carved mask of Kongorikishi (Niō), Agata form, a guardian deity, vintage and antique.
This is a wooden carved mask of the Agata form of Kongorikishi statues (commonly called Niō because they stand at the temple gate).
The expression of dohatsuten (hair standing on end in anger) is powerful, and it is displayed at the entrance as a guardian deity to ward off evil.
The shabby atmosphere is irresistible.
