Antique Japanese Cinnabar Lacquer Candlesticks This striking pair of antique Japanese cinnabar lacquerware candlesticks features a hand-painted scene of cranes in flight against a dark celestial sun, a traditional symbol of longevity and peace.   Standing 7” tall with a 3” wide base, these pieces are crafted from lathe-turned wood and finished in multiple layers of vibrant orange-red urushi lacquer.   The minimalist bamboo details at the base and the dark-stained undersides showcase authentic early 20th-century craftsmanship.   While they exhibit some beautiful aged crazing consistent with antique lacquerware.
