Shidoke is a wild vegetable that is popular in Tohoku, such as Aomori.
The young shoots and stems can be used for tempura, blanched dishes, or dressed with sesame.
In Hokkaido, it only grows in some areas of Sorachi, Hidaka, Iburi, and Tokachi,
so I believe it is a rare wild vegetable.
It seems to grow well under garden trees or in shady areas of the house where there is not much sunlight.
It also seems to be resistant to heat and cold, as I have seen it along the approach to a temple in Shikoku.
