Tamagawa-do Hammered Copperware Kensui (Tea Scatterer) with Leaf Cutout Carving

Gyokusendo Tsuchioki Copperware Kensui (Tea Scatterer) with Leaf Openwork Carving

[Product Description]
This is a Tsuchioki copperware Kensui (Tea Scatterer) from Gyokusendo (ぎょくせんどう), a designated intangible cultural property in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture.
It was found in the storehouse of my family home and has been carefully stored for many years.
The craftsman's hand-hammered texture and the delicate leaf openwork carving on the lid are exceptionally beautiful, creating a piece with the characteristic depth of Gyokusendo.
It has developed a deep color and texture unique to copperware, making it a striking item not only as a tea ceremony utensil but also as an interior decoration.
