Shogakukan Video Learn from Wood - The Skill and Spirit of Master Carpenter Tsunekazu Nishioka VHS

Tsunekazu Nishioka, the last master carpenter to lead the major restorations of Horyuji and Yakushiji temples in the Showa era.
This is a precious video work documenting the skills and philosophy of a man who dedicated himself to wooden architecture that has stood for 1300 years.

Wood is alive.
Wood has its own quirks.
Humans must learn from wood.

Mr. Nishioka's words go beyond mere architectural techniques, touching upon the very spiritual culture of the Japanese people.

Tsunekazu Nishioka is still frequently featured as a great figure on platforms like YouTube, and renewed attention is being paid to his philosophy and way of life. This work is a visual record of his voice and his presence on site.

We have not confirmed a DVD release, and VHS copies, both new and used, are currently unavailable. This makes it a rare visual resource.
